Allen Stumped By Spanish Town Statue Tribute

Woody Allen is baffled by a statue honour in the Spanish town of Ovieto.
The movie mogul insists the odd tribute is "one of the great mysteries of western civilization" - because he has no idea why townsfolk chose to honour him. Allen tells WENN, "Ovieto is a lovely town in Spain. I went there a couple of times, and, without asking me, they erected this statue. I never saved someone from drowning and they put a statue up of me in the town. I thought it was a joke." "And it's a good statue of me; I've got my sports jacket on and corduroy trousers." But he's still far from convinced his Ovieto statue is a permanent fixture: "Maybe when I leave town they take it in and when Brad Pitt comes to town, they put his statue out!" However, Allen insists he is still very proud of the monument. Allen adds, "I have a photograph of it at home with two feet of snow on the top of me piled on my head." And the moviemaker has learned that his statue's spectacles have become a sought-after item: "People keep stealing the glasses. They're welded on.
