Feel The Payne On DVD And Blu-Ray Watch out because a man with nothing to lose is on the loose. Thanks to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment you can pick up Max Payne on DVD and Blu-ray on January 20th.

The popular video game comes to life in Max Payne the movie. Max (Mark Wahlberg) is a rebellious cop whose world comes crashing down after his wife and daughter are brutally murdered. Now, with nothing else left to lose, he is out for revenge and nothing can stop him, not even the law. Max’s mission turns even darker when he encounters enemies not of this world, as well as the demons within himself. This flick has quite the star-studded cast including Beau Bridges as a former cop friendly with Max, Mila Kunis as an assassin seeking revenge for the murder of her sister, Ludacris as an internal affairs agent, and Chris O’Donnell as a supervisor at a pharmaceutical company.

Unfortunately, the impressive cast couldn’t save this movie. The absurd plot twists leave those who are inexperienced Max Payne gamers in the dark. It’s one thing to bring a comic book to the big screen, but I don’t know if we’ll see the same trend with video games. Then again, I did really enjoy Super Mario Bros. as a kid.

For the fans of the game out there you’ll enjoy a number of extras. The single disc version comes with the theatrical version of the film as well as the unrated extended cut. You’ll also get commentary with the director, production designer and visual effects supervisor. If you level up to the special edition DVD you can add a production featurette, an animated graphic novel and a digital copy of the film to the list. Finally, if you really power up to Blu-ray, you’ll also get a second production featurette and access to the BonusVIEW mode. BonusVIEW offers a behind-the-scenes look at the film as well as picture-in-picture interviews with the director.

If you need a little more than just the video game to get your Payne fix, you can pick up the single disc DVD for $29.98, the special edition DVD for $34.98 or the Blu-ray version for $39.99. I will be taking a pass on the valkyr for now.
