Optimus Prime Is Very Mature For His Age, Transformers Is 25

Not only is the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen right around the corner, but so is the 25th anniversary of the cartoon the film is based on. On June 16th, Shout!Factory and Hasbro Inc. will release The Transformers: The Complete First Season 25th Anniversary Edition DVD box set. If you’d like to continue your Transformers experience even after the second film is release on June 24th, you’ll get that chance! Production on The Transformers: 25th Anniversary ‘Matrix of Leadership’ Edition Collector’s Set is underway and is expected to hits store mid July.

Go back to where it all started with The Complete First Season. Four million years after crash landing on Earth, the Transformers awaken. These alien robots have the ability to transform into common devices concealing their identity while the two warring factions fight for different causes. The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, work to keep the humans safe and stop Megatron and the Decepticons from taking all of the planet’s resources.

In addition to all of the first season’s episodes, this set also comes with a ‘rare’ PSA, printable script, “Triple Charger: From Toy to Comic to Screen – The Origins of the Transformers” featurette and an Autobots magnet.

Even though this set is reasonably priced at $29.99, it’s not worth the cash. Maybe if I had kids and wanted them to enjoy a cartoon without special digital effects or a third dimension, I’d pick up a copy. Or maybe if I was a diehard fan I’d appreciate owning The Complete First Season. What it comes down to is that I want an IMAX ticket to Revenge of the Fallen. It’s hard enough for me to afford my movie addiction at regular theaters so when you throw in a $15.00 ticket for an IMAX screening you just have to cut back.
