There's No Getting Away From This Perfect Getaway

Are you so hard at work that you haven’t taken a vacation in years? Don’t be bitter; exotic getaways aren’t always all they’re cracked up to be, especially in Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich’s case. Check out their honeymoon gone awry when Universal Studios Home Entertainment releases A Perfect Getaway on DVD and Blu-ray December 29th.
Cliff and Cydney (Zahn and Jovovich) are doing what newlyweds do: going on a honeymoon. Unlike most couples, they’re passing on lounging in the sun to embark on a rigorous hike along the beautiful beaches of Hawaii. It isn’t until they cross paths with another group of hikers that they realize the murderers of another newlywed couple on the mainland could be heading their way. Not quite sure what to do, they decide to continue along with a couple they meet on the trail, Nick and Gina (Timothy Olyphant and Kiele Sanchez). As they trek through the secluded paths, the four become increasingly wary of the others’ intentions and don’t know who to trust. If you’re looking for a thrill, A Perfect Getaway is it. The mix of suspense and constant distrust will keep you on your guard throughout the film. According to DVD Active, thrills may be the only thing this disc is packing. “As far as they know,” the only bonus material will be a director’s cut, adding on 10 minutes to the theatrical version. The Blu-ray edition will also come with the original scripted ending. It’s hard to imagine a new release with zero featurettes, or even some commentary, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for any further announcements.
