I haven’t heard word from the studio yet, but DVD Active says they’ve gotten preliminary information on Oliver Stone’s W., which will be heading onto DVD and Blu-ray on February 10th. Beyond the date, not much has been revealed other than the possibility of a commentary track from Stone, and probably some behind the scenes featurettes.
This got me to thinking - what would you like to see on a DVD release of W? In a perfect world, I’d like to see commentary from someone other than stone. How about some Republican biased historians, who can offer how much of Stone’s film is based in reality and how much is dramatic license? Or, even better, push the DVD release back another month and get the soon-to-be ex-president to record his own track, defending himself from Stone’s portrayal.
I know none of these things are likely to happen, but you have to admit, they would be pretty interesting. At the very least I hope they do offer some side-by-side comparisons between the actors and the “characters” they portray in the movie. In more than one case, the similarities are just astounding.
