Some new information came spilling out of this year's E3 for the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. One of the most talked about things has been the new Amiibo figures that will be usable with the Legend of Zelda, including a Wolf Link figure.

In an article by Gamnesia, they detail that the Amiibo will enable players to gain access to some all new features in Nintendo's upcoming Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. In one of the demonstrations during the Treehouse live event we were given a look at how an Amiibo from The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD could be used in the upcoming Breath of the Wild game.

If players have the Amiibo they can set it on the GamePad and then activate Wolf Link from Twilight Princess HD and bring him into Breath of the Wild as a companion. He will only have a limited amount of health and can only be summoned once per day if his health runs out, but he can be a real help when you're out hunting or taking on a boss. There's a demonstration video below showing the Wolf in action and how he can be utilized in the game.

As you can see, the Wolf has a limited amount of health and you can only gain more by clearing the Cave of Shadows from Twilight Princess HD. So both games tie into each other really well as far as the Amiibo is concerned.

The video also demonstrates that the Wolf Link can be used to hunt down enemies and animals alike. During the Treehouse presentation we saw that the Wolf took out a boar and left Link a nice hearty piece of meat to chow down on.

Now if the Wolf does happen to take a lot of damage, there's no way to heal the Wolf within Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You will have to wait 24 hours before being able to use the Amiibo again and get him back into the game. This will definitely be a tactical and strategic thing given that there are obviously going to be some boss battles where the Wolf might be essential in coming up with a working formula to take them down in a non-traditional way, but the fact that you can't heal the wolf means that you have to be conscious of where his life is and how he's being utilized on the field.

The Wolf can also sniff out items and hunt down enemies on command, which should make for some interesting gameplay moments.

Some gamers have been ecstatic about the utilization of the Wolf Link in this upcoming Legend of Zelda title, while others complained that they would have to buy the special edition of Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD in order to make use of the Wolf in the game.

While there may be some obvious detractors of the use of Amiibo in the upcoming title, the Amiibo themselves have been a huge seller for Nintendo and they're looking to further capitalize on that with the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is due out next year for the Wii U and Nintendo NX.
