Interestingly enough I find myself becoming less and less interested in getting Achievements on my 360 games, yet now that I’m a proud PS3 owner I look forward to gaining some trophies. Blizzard has decided that they’ll be getting into the digital reward game by providing achievements for Diablo III and Starcraft II. This should make it easier for you to brag about your advanced swarming technique as you’ll have a little icon or number to show off.
WoW lead designer Jeff Kaplan talked with MTV Multiplayer and revealed that in addition to the achievements coming for Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzards other upcoming titles will also have the tasty treats. The ultimate plan is to have the achievements link to your Blizzard account. Basically what is going to happen, most likely, is Blizzard will stomp all other competition and become the king of achievements.
The great thing about achievements is they are unobtrusive. If you don’t want to bother getting them, then just ignore the whole system. Of course, if you’re an obsessive completest having achievements in Starcraft II may mean you’ll be losing all free time for a few years.
