At a Namco Bandai Gamer's Day event in Las Vegas, the publisher formally announced the rumored PC port for Dark Souls. The Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition will arrive on the PC this August.
The action RPG was originally released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 this past fall. Namco didn't initially have any plans to make a PC version. However, a fan petition soon got the company's attention.
The Prepare to Die Edition will feature content that wasn't included in the console edition. An enhanced PVP mode will make it easier for players to fight to the death online. A new chapter of the game, "Artorias of the Abyss," provides players with new areas and bosses to encounter. This chapter culminates in a battle against the Dark Knight Artorias.
It's not clear whether this new content will appear on the PS3 or Xbox 360 ever. Presumably Namco will release it as DLC for those platforms. Namco made no announcement on the matter, though.
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will debut on the PC on August 24th.
