Darksiders 2 Coming To PS4?
One of the many forgotten gems of the seventh generation could be making a return to the eighth gen as a re-release for the PlayStation 4. More specifically, listings indicate that Darksiders II: The Definitive Edition could be inbound, along with a few other games that could make their console debut on the PS4 and Xbox One.
Over on NeoGaf there's a thread about a couple of listed entries on Amazon for games potentially coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U. Most of the titles are for the PS4, but it's also nice to see that a remaster for the Wii U is also on the way.
Darksiders II: Definitive Edition over on the Amazon listing doesn't really show anything or reveal any info. What it does reveal is a price tag that is a heck of a lot lower than I would have expected. It's listed for only $39.99.
It's totally possible that this is a legit listing, especially since it shows that Nordic Games is the publisher, which is true. Nordic Games picked up the license to publish Darksiders games for home consoles and PC.
Nordic managed to grab the license when THQ went belly up and filed for bankruptcy a few years ago. Many of THQ's top properties ended up in the hands of other publishers, such as WWE 2K conveniently landing in the hands of 2K Games, as well as Saints Row being picked up by Deep Silver.
For a while, Darksiders was kind of trapped in limbo and Vigil Games wasn't sure where the property would end up but Nordic Games eventually picked it up. It's a little unfortunate that Darksiders II: Definitive Edition is the one coming to the PS4 and not the original Darksiders where players donned the role of War. I'm not saying the second game was bad, oh not by a long shot. I just thought that War was a cooler character with a better story.
Unfortunately, due to the middling sales of Darksiders II and the dissolution of THQ it's unlikely we'll be seeing a third game anytime soon.

But beyond Darksiders II, one of the other entries really caught my eye, Legend of Kay HD. Apparently the game is being re-released for the Wii U for $24.99. How likely is this? I have no idea, but pulling an old junker out of the treasure trove from the PS2's library isn't a bad thing at all, assuming it's real.
Another game on the list is The Book of Unwritten Tales. It's a new-age point-and-click game for today's generation of gamer, and it's easily one of the more visually enchanting adventure games out there. It's nice to see that it's listed for both the Xbox One and the PS4.
MX vs. ATV: Supercross Encore Edition and ArcaniA: The Complete Tale, both of which are pegged for release on the PS4, rounded off the list.
Of course, the real talk of the town is Darksiders II: Definitive Edition. The one thing I'm curious about is what makes it definitive and how much did they alter or change for the re-release? I guess we'll find out some time down the road.
