Guild Wars 2 Heart Of Thorns Launch Trailer Unleashes The Jungle Dragon
ArenaNet unveiled the newest cinematic launch trailer for Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, set to release on October 23rd. The upcoming expansion adds a whole new depth of gameplay features to the MMO, along with new areas to explore and new skills to master.
The trailer doesn't delve into any of the new play mechanics but it does give viewers an enticing look at what the new enemy will be like. The trailer was posted up over on official Guild Wars 2 YouTube channel. Check it out below.
The video spawned a lot of chatter. Quite naturally there were obvious comparisons to Blizzard's cinematic trailers for World of Warcraft and StarCraft II. Of course, it's not really fair to compare the two given that Blizzard is working on a whole other level.
I do have to admit that compared to things like the Warlords of Draenor cinematic or even StarCraft II's intro cinematic, Guild Wars 2 looks like it's in a far lower league, but gameplay wise ArenaNet and NCSoft know how to bring the heat.
Speaking of gameplay, the upcoming Heart of Thorns features an all new playable class called the Revenant, which brings all new skills to the table and allows players to master various weapons, armor types and abilities. The Revenant uses maces, axes, sword, hammers and staffs. They're like a mix between a monk, a druid and a little bit of a necromancer.
The trailer above does a fine job of introducing players to some of the abilities that will be at the disposal of the Revenant, all while also giving players a look at the devastation and destruction that can be dealt by Mordremoth, which seems to be similar to Halo's Gravemind.
According to some of the YouTube users in the comment section, the trailer doesn't spoil the full capabilities or look of Mordremoth, but what everyone is seeing in the trailer is just a manifestation through various shells. Apparently die-hard fans will actually have to play the game before they can see what the true boss will look like.
