Killzone: Shadow Fall Launch Trailer Breaks The Truce

We're just a couple of days out from the launch of the PlayStation 4 and standing right by its side will be the first big AAA FPS exclusive to the new generation, Killzone: Shadow Fall. To celebrate the revitalized war between the Vektans and Helghast, a new launch trailer and impressive tech demo has been made for your peepers to explore.

At this point, those planning on picking up a PS4 on launch day are likely thrumming with anticipation. The new generation kicks off tomorrow night at midnight, followed by a mad dash home, a frantic scurry to get the thing hooked up, then a crash course in all things PlayStation 4. From the new user interface to the DualShock 4 controller, there's going to be quite a bit of stuff to adjust to. One thing that won't change much between the console shift, though, is shooting dudes in the face with bullets.

In Killzone: Shadow Fall, an uneasy truce between the Vektans and Helghast is shattered, with all out war lingering just on the edges of isolated combat. The Higs have good reason to be upset, however, as the ISA destroyed their home world and then “allowed” them to live on a somewhat neutral planet...Behind a wall, of course, dividing them from the high and mighty Vektan race.

If that isn't cause for tension, I don't know what is.

The above launch trailer was revealed yesterday on the PlayStation Blog, giving gamers one last chance to see what Shadow Fall is all about before being able to dive in and experience the campaign themselves. Early buzz around the internet has been positive, and that's not even including the multiplayer portion of the game.

“When we began working on Killzone: Shadow Fall, we set out to redefine the Killzone FBS experience,” said Guerrilla Games Game Director Steven Ter Heide. “It had to cater to a new, more resourceful playing style, requiring the use of tactics and intelligence to outmaneuver and outsmart enemies. At the same time, we wanted the game to remain true to its roots as a highly visceral shooter.”

That type of gameplay choice was shown off last month in the form of a rather clever video displaying four different ways of approaching the same section of gameplay. In short: Shadow Fall gives you options when it comes to approaching various combat situations, allowing the gamer to tackle various situations however they want.

Along with the launch trailer, Guerilla also posted a nice look at some of the tech running Shadow Fall on the PS4. Be sure to check that clip out below.
