The Last Of Us: Left Behind Headlines Huge Week On PlayStation Network

How many things would you like to download onto your PlayStation consoles this week? Was your answer “all of the things?” Because that's exactly what you're getting. The harvest is bountiful this week as the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 get a dose of brand new games, Classics, bundles and DLC, including the Valentine's Day delivery of the highly anticipated The Last of Us: Left Behind.

The first truly epic PSN update of 2014, this week's offerings are absolutely stacked, featuring a little something for everyone on all Sony console's that don't have the number 4 in their title. Unfortunately, nothing new is arriving for the new home console this week, but there's more than enough stuff hitting the PS3 and Vita to make up for it.

Despite the fact that several new games are releasing this week, the headliner for many-a fan of Naughty Dog's latest epic adventure isn't actually coming out with the rest of the update on Tuesday, timed to give us all a Valentine's Day dilemma later in the week week.

“This week on Friday, The Last of Us: Left Behind arrives on PS3,” said Ryan Clements in the official announcement. “The DLC explores Ellie's past, along with her connection with close friend and confidant, Riley. This additional chapter in the world of The Last of Us bestows intimate insight into defining moments of Ellie's past.”

I suppose nothing more need be said than that. If you played The Last of Us and are sane, I assume you're already planning on picking that one up. So let's move on to the rest of the week's update.

The Vita is getting a pair of new retails releases this week, including murder-filled puzzler wrapped in an interactive novel, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, and the feudal Japan-flavored monster hunting game, Toukiden: Age of Demons. The Vita is also getting a pirate-themed tower defense game by the name of Fort Defense on its digital shelves, alongside the over-the-top update of the arcade classic, Tempest, in the form of TxK.

Crazy PS2 shooter Blowout will be added to the Classics section for the PS3 this week, alongside Far Cry Classic (a spruced up version of the first game in the series), PSone Classic Pac-Man World 20th Anniversary and PSone Import, Wolf Fang.

A few bundles are also arriving on the PS3 this week, including a package containing Borderlands 2 and Dishonored, one featuring The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and BioShock Infinite, and one for the Far Cry Compilation.

Finally, bizarre zombie shooter, Zombeer hits the PlayStation 3 this week, alongside a little something-something known as Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

See, I wasn't just throwing a bunch of hype around, now was I? That's an absolutely packed week, and I haven't even mentioned the demos yet, all of which are for the PS3. Toki Tori, Oddworld: Stranger's Warth HD and Far Cry Classic all get demos this week, alongside a trial for Skullgirls Encore and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

Here's hoping you've got a lot of free time on your hands this week, because that's an awful lot of stuff to sink your teeth into.
