Lego Legends Of Chima Games Coming In 2013

Lego is banking big on their newest property, Legends of Chima, creating a vast array of play sets, a television series, and even three video games scheduled to roll out throughout 2013.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today that three video games for Legends of Chima will be made available this year for a variety of platforms, spanning various genres and even complementing one another with in-game rewards for those who take part in more than one of the upcoming titles.

Legends of Chima is a brand new fantasy world inhabited by magical animal races. According to Warner Bros., the various bits of multimedia for the property tell “the classic story of good and evil, friendship and family.”

“We are doing something innovative with Lego Legends of Chima by making three distinct videogame experiences on a variety of platforms,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior VP of Production and Development for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “By creating multiple Lego video game experiences for one brand, we are catering to today’s diverse gaming community, as well as establishing a rewards system for players of all three games.”

First up is Lego Legends of Chima: Speedorbz, a racing game available later today on Lego.com and tomorrow on iOS. Players will race through various Chima locations while collecting studs and rewards to unlock more Speedorbz and customization options for their character.

Next up is Lego Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey, an adventure game headed to the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita this summer and the Nintendo DS this fall. Players will take control of Laval, that lion-looking dude, and his allies as they are called to dish out justice across the kingdom of Chima.

Finally, there’s Lego Legends of Chima Online, the free-to-play online MMO set to hit PC sometime this year.

As players dive into the first two games, they will earn reward points that will be stored in “the Chima Vault,” which will be set up through your profile page on the Lego website. Playing Speedorbz and Laval’s Journey will give you the ability to earn exclusive rewards in Legends of Chima Online, giving everyone even more reasons to sink their teeth into all three titles.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you launch a brand new franchise.
