Limbo, Fat Princess, Castle Crashers Top PSN's Charts For 2011

One of the most highly discussed indie games of the year managed to top the download charts for Sony's PlayStation Network. Leading the pack of self-published titles, PlayDead's noir-style platformer, Limbo, took the top spot followed closely by Castle Crashers and TestYourself Psychology.

According to GameIndustry.biz, SCEA released a chart showcasing which games managed to top the charts for the PlayStation Network across a variety of categories. For indie titles published directly under the Sony Computer Entertainment label, the top sellers were PixelJunk Shooter 2 and Titan Studios' Fat Princess, along with Flower by thatgamecompany.

According to Sony...

"For some newer, smaller teams who have creative and innovative ideas, SCEA also has the Pub Fund, which provides additional development budget for those teams that might not otherwise have the footing to make their game a reality."... "We've committed $20 million over the next three years to the Pub Fund because we believe this visionary and unique development mindset will ultimately advance and evolve PSN games as an art form."

Well that's good news for indie devs who want to break into the industry. You can learn more about Sony and their indie program by visiting their Official Website.
