Neverwinter Open Beta Begins April 30th

The latest MMORPG set in the mystical world of Dungeons and Dragons, Neverwinter is nearly ready to launch. To celebrate, the folks at Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios are gearing up for the game’s official open beta, set to kick off on April 30.

Like most MMOs that aren’t World of Warcraft, Neverwinter will be a free-to-play affair. But, according to the game’s developers, that doesn’t mean that players can expect a massive, exciting adventure out of their upcoming game.

“The direct response and support from the Neverwinter community during the closed beta weekends have pushed us to make Neverwinter the best free-to-play MMORPG anyone has yet seen,” said Criag Zinkievich, Cryptic Executive Producer and COO. “On April 30, we go into Open Beta. That’s when the world we’ve labored for years to build comes to life. That’s when every gamer can login and play what we’ve worked so hard to create. We could not be more excited.”

Once April 30 rolls around, literally anyone with an internet connection and a desire to give Neverwinter a try will be able to jump right in to the action. And the best part is the fact that, once the open beta begins, character wipes and restricted access will be a thing of the past. In other words, though it has the word “beta” attached, they’re basically launching the full game.

If you’ve always wanted to don a suit of armor, brandish a sword and help a group of friends murder a massive, fire-breathing dragon, then Neverwinter may be just what you’ve been looking for. To read up on oodles of background info, tutorials, etc. visit the game’s official website.
