Pandemic Announces Conquest

Star Wars: Battlefront developer Pandemic Studios is taking its battlefield action game expertise to a new arena of nerdiness: Lord of the Rings. Today they announced Lord of the Rings: Conquest, a game that allows players to experience the massive battles for Middle Earth first-hand on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
Conquest, due for a Fall 2008 release, will feature all of the famous battles from the LOTR films (among others) and all of the popular monsters and characters. As with Battlefront, players will have separate campaigns for the good guys and bad guys and you'll be able to control any character on the battlefield. So yes, Tolkien fans, that means you'll even get to play as Dark Lord Sauron and find out what would've happened if he had regained the One Ring (looked fabulous?). Pandemic says the battles will allow up to 150 characters on screen at a time to ensure they're epic enough. Four players can play cooperatively via split-screen or the Internet, and two teams of four can battle each other online. What's the Elvish word for "pwned"?
