Star Wars Pinball Brings The Force To Wii U July 11th

The Force will soon be strong with Nintendo as Zen Studios announces the impending release of Star Wars Pinball for the eShop, coming July 11.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Zen Studios brand of virtual pinball tables, they basically craft dynamic games that could never exist in the real world, overflowing with special effects, animated pieces and stuff like explosions, lasers and shifting gravity. It’s not “pure” pinball, but the studio has certainly made a name for itself crafting quality tables with loads of gameplay and fun things to do.

Earlier this year, Zen launched a collection of three Star Wars themed tables on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, giving players the chance to tackle tables based on Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back; everyone’s favorite bounty hunter, Boba Fett; and the animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Each table comes packed with plot points from their respective source material, new “stories,” characters from the movies and shows, as well as their sound effects and soundtracks.

In this standalone version of the game, players will be able to choose to support the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance with their high scores, letting players battle for control of the galaxy by swaying the balance of the Force. Unlike some Star Wars games, they don't force you into choosing one side over the other, so if you're more comfortable running in leagues with a galactic dictatorship, no one is judging you on that front.

With Zen Pinball 2 arriving on the Wii U late last year, it’s finally time for silver ball fans on Nintendo’s latest console to enjoy some new tables. Star Wars Pinball will be available through the eShop on July 11 in North America for $9.99, bundling all three tables into one tidy package.
