New Text Game Lets You Play As George Lucas

ClickHole created a little project called You're George Lucas In 1975. Can You Create Star Wars?. It's a choose your own text adventure starring George Lucas as he attempts to create Star Wars. It takes a lot of jabs at the creative process and all sorts of other things as players attempt to make the right choices to help Lucas create Star Wars.

Game Informer did a quick write-up on the new project that sees players looking at a lot of pictures of yams, and jokingly playing through the life of George Lucas as he attempts to get Star Wars off the ground.

You can do silly things like go to the hospital and see Tiger Woods get born, or you can go to the store to pick up and replenish the milk while encountering Princess Leia. I made some unfortunate choices and ended up making a Star Wars film only starring a bunch of Wookies. The game ended.

Even if the game ends you can still start over and and play again. You can play the little adventure for free over on Clickhole.

George Lucas has been the brunt of many jokes over the years, especially following the documentary The People vs George Lucas. Technically the hatred started before then but that was kind of the boiling point, since a lot of people felt as if Lucas had lost touch with his fan base and was just running Star Wars into the ground.

The text-adventure seems to take a similar route with how it addresses Lucas, snidely hinting at him plagiarizing the works of Akira Kurosawa, most famous for the adaptation of King Lear called Ran and a host of other memorable films such as Seven Samurai, Dreams and Yojimbo.

The text adventure starring George Lucas from Clickhole isn't readily easy to navigate in terms of understanding what will actually result in Lucas landing the perfect script to take to the studio heads. A lot of the choices seem completely outlandish and the results are equally so. If you think this is like some kind of BioWare Knights of the Old Republic tale where the obvious good and bad (or light and dark) choices are apparent, think again.

This obviously isn't the sort of thing you would play to substitute for any real gaming habits, and you probably aren't going to put down Fallout 4, Star Wars: Battlefront or Black Ops 3 to click through several pages of a choose your own text adventure starring George Lucas, but I imagine for people who have absolutely nothing better to do with their time and are absolutely bored out their minds – or maybe they have no game consoles in sight and their PC can't run anything beyond Qbasic games – then the choose your own adventure text game might be worth it.

You're George Lucas In 1975. Can You Create Star Wars? is available right now over on the Clickhole website. You can play it to your heart's content.
