The Trailer For New Black Ops DLC Gives A Peek At New Map
Activision and Treyarch released a new teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's upcoming expansion pack called Awakening. The DLC will be the first of four expansions for the futuristic first-person shooter. The teaser trailer contains a very brief 18 second flyover of one of the new maps called “Skyjacked”.
According to Gamespot the “Skyjacked” map is a re-imagining of the map from Treyarch's previous outing, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. You can check out the teaser for the map in the trailer below.
The flyover is so minuscule that there's hardly anything worth discussing in the teaser. However, it does reveal a few entryways, exits and opportunities to flank enemies from various access points. Despite looking like a rather small map from the outset, it's actually quite spacious when you see how certain elements are scaled in the environment. You can see that majority of the upper deck appears to be accessible, and based on the locations of the doors, it appears as if access to some of the lower decks is also possible.
They don't give away too much with the flyover given that it is a teaser after all. What we do see is that the entire upper deck can be accessed and it is broken down into three distinct sections, with the front, middle and rear of the ship. Each section seems to be finely crafted to afford for the typical fast-paced Call of Duty deathmatch experience. As you can see in the clip above, there is hardly any cover fire points between the gaps that lead into entry and exit points. This means that players will consistent and frequently have to sprint those areas where this is no cover, risking being sniped by a camper.
The middle chine of the ship seems to be the most crowded, likely to keep the action flowing fast and free where a lot of CQC kills will likely take place.
The big difference between this map and the one from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is that in the other game the action took place on a boat out at sea, and in this game it takes place in a flying ship hovering in the air.
Skyjacked will be accompanied by three other multiplayer maps, including Rise, Splash and Gauntlet. The article doesn't specify what the other three maps will contain or how they will be setup, but for fans of Black Ops 3's zombie mode, there will be a new zombie map included in the Awakening map pack called “Der Einsendrachen”. It's obviously a follow-up to the “Giant” map featuring the original zombie fighters from way back in Call of Duty: Black Ops, the first game in the complex and interesting trilogy dealing with mind-control, metaphysics and the bridge between technological consciousness and human consciousness.

Activision has yet to roll out a full detailed release date for the Awakening expansion, but you can expect it to arrive soon as they still have three more expansions for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to release before they announce their next outing in the Call of Duty franchise, which will likely release later this year during November.
