Nintendo bossman, Satoru Iwata, announced today that the mega-developer will begin offering game demos for select WiiWare titles starting this month.
Speaking at a Nintendo financial briefing in Japan, A HREF=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=226649>Iwata said the service will only be for Japanese Wii users and will be available for only select games. The move is intended to help stimulate slumping sales for the Wii, which is struggling to compete with the Sony PS3 in Japan.
It is not known at this point whether or not the service will eventually be offered outside the country or if the service will expand to encompass a majority of WiiWare titles. However, it's a step in the right direction considering the Wii's recent depressing sales statistics.
