Well it looks like the Adventures in Babysitting remake we told you about here a few months ago is happening. Variety is reporting that Disney has just hired Tiffany Paulsen to write it. Apparently former Cosby-kid turned Hilary Duff replacement Raven Symone is still set to star along with Miley Cyrus.
The 1987 version of the film starred Elizabeth Shue as a high school senior stuck babysitting a bunch of kids. Her dull night at home with someone else's pint sized terrors is interrupted when she gets an urgent call for help from a friend downtown, and is forced to take her charges along with her on a rescue mission. Everything that can go wrong does, and soon they're lost amidst the terrors of the big city. The movie was rated PG-13, and in a campy, 80s way it had at least a little bit of an edge with it.
It’s probably a safe bet that the new version will be a limp PG, since Paulsen’s only other gig was writing the soon to be popular with little girls movie Nancy Drew and since Raven Symone is a Disney Channel star. It’ll be cute, and your kids will love it, but you will miss Elizabeth Shue. God I miss Elizabeth Shue.
