360 Extended Trailer Offers New Insight Into Mysterious Drama

360, the latest film from City of God helmer Fernando Meirelles, is an enigmatic new thriller that presents a string of characters from different wildly backgrounds and reveals the ties that interconnect them. On paper, the feature is compelling, penned by two-time Oscar-nominated screenwriter Peter Morgan and boasting a star-studded cast that includes such critically heralded performers as Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, Ben Foster and Anthony Hopkins.

Yet it appears Magnolia Pictures is struggling to sell its slippery plot to iTunes users, because just days after unveiling a steamy new clip to promote the film's release on VOD and iTunes, they've unveiled a new trailer where 360's stars break down the mystery a bit, and offer insight to its less-than-evocative title. Check it out below or see it in hi-res at Apple.

Some elements this extended trailer clarifies is that the attraction Hopkins' character feels toward Gabriela Marcinkova's Laura isn't sexual, but rather one based on her similarity to his long-missing daughter. Also revealed, the whole plot of 360 begins with Law's choice of whether or not to sleep with a prostitute, a decision that’s repercussion filter down to the ensemble and ultimately brings the plot back around to its source, explaining the title 360.

Beyond tackling the butterfly effect of everyday folks' actions, Meirelles and his cast chime in that the characters of this story are essentially good people, who are doing the best they can, but struggle to do what's right. While still a vague discussion of the film, it does bring 360 into a clearer focus, but will it be enough to urge you to seek it out?

Now available on iTunes and VOD, 360 will open for a limited theatrical release on August 3rd. To learn more about the film, check out our Blend Film Database.
