A Third Nutty Professor? Do We Have To?

By Katey Rich: 2008-11-18 01:28:46
A Third Nutty Professor? Do We Have To? Eddie Murphy is not nearly the box office powerhouse he used to be-- at least according to Meet Dave's $12 million box office take-- and The Nutty Professor movies were ably parodied in 3 short minutes in the fake trailers in front of Tropic Thunder. So is there really room for those hugely successful movies to be revisited, 8 years after the sequel?

Of course there is! The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Universal and Imagine Entertainment are sending out for screenwriters for a third Nutty Professor movie. Those of you with your script sitting at home that sends the Klumps on a vacation to Hawaii, send it along! Eddie Murphy isn't signed on, and won't be unless a script, director and production work out to his satisfaction. As unwilling as I am to see Murphy don a fat suit again, a third movie without him is even more unimaginable. Quite frankly I'd rather everyone move on with dignity, allowing Murphy to continue his attempts to reinvent his career and the Klumps to remain peacefully in the past.
