Alvin and his furry little pals will be back for the third installment of the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. Alvin and the Chipmunks 3: Chipwrecked will have Dave setting off with the chipmunks for a relaxing vacation on a luxury cruise ship. Of course, not everything goes as planned.

While Jason Lee’s TNT drama series has been cancelled, the actor’s work will continue on the big screen, with Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked among his upcoming projects. Lee will return as Dave, the adoptive father of three adorable, musical, often trouble-making chipmunks.

The trailer below includes a bit more footage from the movie than what was shown in previous trailers, however you will see all three chipmunks and their girlfriends harmonizing nicely the way the Chipmunks always do, with an a cappella rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.”

I’ll admit to not having seen the first two Alvin and the Chipmunks movies, however as someone who grew up loving the Chipmunks (I think my parents still have the Chipmunk Punk record somewhere in their house), I can appreciate the attempt to reach a new audience with these films, and cover today’s popular music with their high-pitched voices the way they did for the previous generation.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked arrives in theaters just in time for the holidays (December 16th). More on the film, including the previously released trailers here.
