Ashton Kutcher To Star In Steve Jobs Biopic

This bit of news may have been better suited for tomorrow, given that it’s April Fool’s Day, but this is apparently confirmed as the real deal. Ashton Kutcher has been tapped to play the lead in an upcoming independent film based on the life of Apple creator and tech-icon Steve Jobs.
Variety shared the news today, stating that Kutcher will play Steve Jobs in an indie film titled Jobs, which is set to be directed by Swing Vote’s Joshua Michael Stern. Matt Whiteley is penning the script. The movie will cover Jobs’ journey “from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time.”
Kutcher is probably better known for his comedic roles than anything else, having starred in That 70’s Show, and more recently, filling the vacancy left by Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men. Jobs is scheduled to shoot while the CBS comedy is on hiatus. When factoring in movies like Valentine’s Day and What Happens in Vegas, it’s difficult to picture Kutcher in a role like this, however he did prove his dramatic chops in The Butterfly Effect back in 2004. And it’s hard to deny the resemblance between young Jobs and Kutcher.
As Coming Soon notes, this is not the Steve Jobs biopic based on Walter Isaacson’s book Steve Jobs. Sony has the rights to that one.
