Miramax just sent us a brand new poster for Anne Hathway’s next movie Becoming Jane. In it, she plays famed writer and bane of the male movie existence Jane Austen. The movie fictionalizes Austen’s early years to embroil her in a romantic encounter the influences her future writing.
At first, I really liked the poster. Then I realized there was something strangely familiar about it. A few keystrokes and I found the answer. It looks exactly like the DVD cover for another movie which fictionalizes the early life of a female author: Renee Zellweger’s Miss Potter.
See the Becoming Jane poster in high res here, but below I’ve done a side-by-side comparison of the Miss Potter dvd cover and the new Becoming Jane poster. Not a very creative ripoff Miramax.

The Becoming Jane poster is SO much better than the Miss Potter poster.
And if they came out at the same time there is no way that Becoming Jane ripped off Miss Potter. Doesn't make sense timeline-wise.
Also--all Jane Austen movie posters look similiar. They all have the same themes so they should!!
