Bolt Fetches The Animated Oscar?

By Rafe Telsch: 2009-02-17 17:58:43
Bolt Fetches The Animated Oscar? One of the interesting debates that came from our Pre-Oscar Round Up Audio Show was that of Best Animated Feature. I was under the impression that Wall-E had the category wrapped up, but Kung Fu Panda showed up as the show’s favorite nominee, 3-2. Margaret even made the comment that Panda would definitely take it if the voting was up to kids, as it’s the most kid-friendly of the nominees. It turns out Margaret was wrong.

A press release from KidZui, an internet service and browser aimed at kids, announced that neither Wall-E nor Kung Fu Panda took the Oscar in a recent poll run on the service. Instead, 44% of kids cast their vote for Disney’s Bolt, which has all but been forgotten by most Oscar predictors. It’s a save move on the part of those trying to predict the winner - Bolt was really enjoyable, but it’s the lesser of the three movies. Apparently it’s the kid’s choice though.

Kung Fu Panda did score 31% of the votes, coming in as runner up over Wall-E’s 25%.

I wouldn’t use KidZui’s poll as a means to picking your Oscar winners this weekend, but it is a fun piece of information, if for no other reason than to prove Margaret wrong.
