Bryan Singer Teases Beast In Latest X-Men Twitter Pic

Hail, hail, the mutant gang’s all hair! At least, that’s what Bryan Singer’s suggesting with this Twitter pic of the beastly blue original X-Men member, The Beast. The Days of Future Past director shared the image along with the following quote, giving fans a hell of a tease heading into the weekend:

"Many a monster wears the form of a man; it is better of the two to have the heart of a man & the form of a monster"

What's unclear is whether this is Nicholas Hoult in make-up, though. He is the latest actor lucky enough to endure the Beast costuming for the benefit of an X-Men movie. (The other would be Kelsey Grammer in Brett Ratner’s X-Men: The Last Stand, of course.) The make-up clearly looks different from the outfit Hoult wore in First Class. The shot's too much of a close up to say for certain who is in the make up. The Beast, at the very least, seems like he should be a staple of virtually every X movie moving forward, though he’s admittedly a difficult character to convert to the big screen because of the physical corrections that need to be completed on an actor to make him believable on screen. (Managing Editor Kelly West stands firm that it's Hoult's mouth. Editor-in-Chief Katey Rich is mixed.)

Hoult has become an even bigger star than he way in X-Men: First Class. Earlier this year, he carried both Warm Bodies and Singer’s Jack the Giant Slayer. He’s not quite as big as co-star Jennifer Lawrence. But if Singer plans on bringing Hoult back into the fold for Days of Future Past (as this Tweet suggests), it’s just another marquee name on the poster … and another challenge for the director to find out how to balance what is shaping up to be a massive mutant cast. Singer is hard at work filming the next X-Men movie as we speak. It will be in theaters in 2014.
