Cars 2 had everything going for it. It was a sequel to a massively successful film from a company that has successfully executed sequels before. The main man in animation, John Lasseter, helmed the project and co-directed it with Brad Lewis. Too much of a sure thing is sometimes just that and Cars 2 proved this with Pixar’s first critical failure.
To rally from the financial woes of such a crappy film, Disney Home Entertainment is using its superb marketing skills. On November 1, the company will release Cars 2 on 3D Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, DVD and Movie Download. To sweeten the deal, the Cars 2 release will offer all kinds of packages with many different special features in the hopes one of them will get your engine roaring.

Unless your kids are the avid Cars franchise lovers my ex-boss’ kids are, you might be better off not purchasing Cars 2, at all. The download presents a special behind-the-scenes look at how Pixar artists and filmmakers make movies in over 40 different languages for audiences around the world to enjoy. It’s a small world, after all.
Possibly understanding few are excited about the Cars 2 release, Pixar has graciously given us a preview for the “Air Mater” short film. Until there’s another shorts set, Cars 2 may be the only way to get ahold of the segment.
