Chris Rock's Brutal Thoughts On Batman V Superman Are Hilarious
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. Fans clamored for any bits of new footage that became available, and were thrilled to see the two heroes on the big screen together for the first time. Unfortunately, this hype may have suffered from giving away too much in the trailers, as well as a somewhat hot and cold plot. As a result, criticism for Batman V Superman was deafening, and now it appears that comedians are beginning to give their opinions on movie’s issues.
Chris Rock recently opened up regarding his gripes with Batman v Superman in a brutal and hilarious fashion. Check it out.
This rant, which comes to us from Vulture, highlights some of the more conceptual issues with Batman v Superman. And Chris Rock does have a point.
Superman is basically the most powerful entity in the DC universe. The Kryptonian has more super powers than you can shake a kryptonite spear at. Flight, super speed, heat vision, super strength, near invulnerability, x-ray vision, and ice breath make him a god among men. So the idea that regular old Batman could successfully take down the titan requires quite the suspension of disbelief.
That being said, Zack Snyder did a good job of making the battle between the two heroes not seem utterly ridiculous. Superman went into the battle struggling with the idea of killing Batman, so he held back his true power. Batman’s arsenal of Kryptonite weapons then served in weakening Supes so he could land some blows. Specifically, the kryptonite smoke bombs which he used a few times made the battle not seem so unbelievable. Plus things really went down when the Kryptonite spear came out and threatened to kill the hero.
Of course, Superman could have just focused his weakened strength on his heat vision, and lobotomized Batman in a matter of seconds. But that’s neither here nor there.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently showing in theaters worldwide. There’s also a possibility that we’ll see an R-rated Ultimate Edition in the near future as well.
