Cusack, O'Donnell, And Vizzini In American Girl

By Josh Tyler: 2007-05-29 07:56:27
Cusack, O'Donnell, And Vizzini In American Girl HBO’s movie version of American Girl, the overpriced dolls for spoiled little rich kids, is sucking up quite a cast. I guess that means we’re all now obligated to be interested in it. Dammit.

The Hollywood Reporter says Joan Cusack, Chris O’Donnell, Julia Ormond, and Wallace Shawn have been added to Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery. Anyone else feel like they fell asleep last night and woke up in 1991?

The movie already stars Little Miss Sunshine cutie Abigail Breslin as the titular American Girl Kit Kittredge. Also in the movie are Stanley Tucci, Jane Krakowksi, Glenne Headly, and some child actors who will play the human versions of various dolls.

As for what it’s about, it’s set in the happy go lucky years of the Great Depression. Kit Kittridge is a plucky 10-year-old who helps her mother (Ormond) run a boardinghouse when her father (Chris O’Donnell) loses a job. O’Donnell ought to be pretty good at playing unemployed by now. Cusack is a nurse who moves in, Wallace Shawn is a newspaper editor whom you should never go in against when death is on the line.
