Dave Bautista Would Love To See An Avengers And Guardians Crossover Movie

Even before The Avengers: Infinity War was announced, Marvel fans started to hope that the Guardians Of The Galaxy team would actually meet and greet The Avengers in a session of ass kicking to protect the universe. Despite the typical studio refutations and usual opportunities for misinformation, there are fans out there that want both teams to join forces and take on Thanos and whomever else dares to step up to the plate. Chief among those fans is, surprise surprise, Drax himself – Dave Bautista.

Metro snagged an exclusive snippet with Bautista on the black carpet at The Avengers: Age Of Ultron premiere. Naturally, as any fan of the legendary comic properties would be inclined to do, he threw in his two cents about a possible meet up between the two epic teams. In particular, the future Spectre henchman was quite optimistic of such a pairing, even going as far as to say the following:

Strictly as a fan boy I hope that the worlds collide and we get together with the Avengers.

Bautista's fanboy love aside, The Avengers and Guardians Of The Galaxy are two properties that seem both a natural fit and a tall order when it comes to any sort of crossover potential. On one hand, the Infinity Gauntlet has the powers to make such a team up happen. Not to mention, Thanos already has a bit of a beef with The Avengers after the 2012 event film that started this whole party. Having the purple one raining down all sorts of chaos is exactly what The Avengers: Infinity War seems to be promising, especially when you remember that the film is split into two parts and it's called Infinity War.

However, the fact still remains that James Gunn is the architect behind the Marvel Cosmic universe. At the very least, he's the guy in charge of the Guardians Of The Galaxy portion of it, and if he's telling us not to expect a Guardians/Avengers crossover anytime soon, we kind of have to listen. Which is exactly what we've been doing, considering he's nixed such a possibility twice. Whether his two votes against are counter, if not equal, to Kevin Feige's one vote in the positive is yet to be seen, but if we were to venture a guess, we'd say yes. Considering Feige's contract with Marvel Studios looks to be running through at least the duration of Phase 3, we'd say that James Gunn and The Russo Brothers had better start preparing some interesting crossover scenarios with their writing teams, just in case.

While The Avengers: Age Of Ultron has still yet to open in theaters, these are the sort of questions Marvel fans would be asking themselves going into Phase 3 anyway. Dave Bautista is one of the early adopters of the idea that The Avengers and the Guardians Of The Galaxy will meet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and for his sake, we hope that this crossover happens as soon as possible. After all, where else are we going to see a 20 minute back-and-forth between Rocket Raccoon and Tony Stark?

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron opens in international markets on Friday, with the domestic market opening on May 1.
