Tim Burton does what he does well. He might not step out of his quirky, somewhat macabre style that frequently, but nobody complains about it because he does it well. That’s a good thing, because it sounds like he’s going back to the well another time, possibly for another stop-motion animated film like he’s done previously with Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride.
Ain’t It Cool News is featuring a reader report from a recent event held by Disney in celebration of their upcoming picture Enchanted. After a screening of the picture, Dick Cook held a Q&A session where word moved to the future for Disney. Cook mentioned The Princess and the Frog and then let it slip that the Mouse House would be producing a stop-motion animated project “helmed by the creative mastermind behind the majority of stop-motion pictures in the last decade.” Well, there certainly isn’t a whole lot of names vying for that accomplishment, so I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to think it’s going to be Burton. Solid details should be released in about a month.
Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite animated movies and I love the fact that Disney is offering it annually now that they’ve turned it into an IMAX 3-D picture. It means one of these years I might get to see it (and yes, I know Burton didn’t actually direct it but he was heavily involved in the production so lay off, man). On the other hand, I wasn’t thrilled by The Corpse Bride, which I felt lacked the polished appearance of Nightmare despite technological advancements. Still, it’s great to see some people still working with older technology styles, and I typically love Burton’s work, so another stop-motion picture would be welcome, even by me.

Could be, but I'm assuming Burton simply because he has a history with Disney. I didn't think of anyone else when I wrote the story, although personally I'd prefer Selick over Burton just because I like his style and stories more
I know for a fact that Selick is working on a new Stop Motion film right now penned by Neil Gaiman, however, I don\'t know for a fact that Disney is involved. The former Will Vinton Studio, where Selick is at, has been plucking students out of my current school - CalArts, which happens to be the school that was created by Disney. May be coincidence, but my money would be on Selick.
