Eli Roth Wants To Make A Monster Movie

By Katey Rich: 2009-04-16 10:48:08
Eli Roth Wants To Make A Monster Movie Eli Roth has big plans beyond just killing Nazis. The Inglourious Basterds actor and Hostel director has been filming with Quentin Tarantino in France for a while, but now that he's off camera again, he's prepping a script that he promises will be different from the low-budget horror he's become known for. Apparently he wants to be more like Michael Bay.

"It’s going to be something that is really fun with lots of mass destruction,” Roth told MTV News. “I wanted to do something along the lines of ‘Transformers’ or ‘Cloverfield’ that was a little more science fiction-based, and with lots of chaos and mass destruction.”

He's also got a fairly brilliant plan for how he'll tack on turning his Grindhouse fake trailer, Thanksgiving, into an actual horror movie. Roth is at least a guy who won't settle for the status quo, and churn out the same old movies for a quick buck. Whether he can handle a giant monster movie, or even a decent acting turn in Inglourious Basterds, remains to be seen.
