Exclusive Chasing Mavericks Clip Takes A Look At The Real Jay

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment’s big surfing movie, Chasing Mavericks, is coming to Blu-ray and DVD tomorrow. To celebrate, the company has put together an exclusive Blu-ray bonus clip for fans that delves into the film’s lead Jay Moriarty, and what the young man and his goals and achievements meant to people.

Chasing Mavericks is the story of a young man who befriends his neighbor and learns how to surf some of the biggest waves in the world. Through his patience and diligence, the teenager was able to accomplish goals many surfers only dream about and to change his fate in the process. To those who knew him, the young man was a person who always lived life to the fullest and had a kind word to say to everyone, and the impression he made on the people who met him definitely comes across in the extra.

Surfing movies may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for those whose interests lie in that realm, Chasing Mavericks is a tough flick with plenty of ups and downs and an inspiring message. The flick comes with plenty of bonus features, including a slew of deleted scenes, audio commentary, and a few featurettes, including a nice set of recollections about the real-life Jay. It’s got plenty of bells and whistles for a flick made on a slim $20 million budget and for the list price, you can’t do much better. Blu-ray copies will run at $29.99 and DVD copies will come even more cheaply at $22.98.
