First Poster For Vampire Drama Byzantium
While vampires are most definitely complex creatures of fantasy and have evolved greatly over the years (I'm still rather confused about how we went from Dracula to Twilight), but for the most part the monsters have three defining characteristics: they live forever, they're evil suckers who drink blood to survive, and they have incredible powers of temptation. Looking at the first poster for Byzantium, and particularly the tagline, the new flick from Interview With A Vampire director Neil Jordan, won't disappoint in those areas.
Found over at the Facebook page for WestEnd Films, the new one sheet for the vampire movie is actually pretty cool. Because there are no A-list stars involved, the artwork isn't dominated by an actor's face, but rather has its own kind of cool style. It also doesn't hurt that the achingly beautiful Gemma Arterton looks stunning in a red flowing dress - as previously seen in these Byzantium set photos. See the poster below and find out more about the film at the end of this post!
Based on the play by Moira Buffini, Byzantium stars Arterton and Saoirse Ronan as mother and daughter vampires who have entered a deadly pact and have trapped a man in the middle. Actors joining the women of the film include Jonny Lee Miller, Sam Riley, and Caleb Landry Jones. While Neil Jordan has been busy on television in recent years, working on the Showtime series The Borgias, this will be his first film since 2009's Ondine. His latest is currently in post-production, but hasn't yet found a distributor, which means that no release date has been set.
