I somehow missed the news that Mike Myers and Jay Roach are hard at work on an Austin Powers 4. Even though I was a huge fan of the first two movies, the third film and the passing of time have made me wish fervently to never see any of those characters again. The trailers for The Love Guru doesn't make things much better. I don't know if I've just grown up, or if Mike Myers has truly gotten unfunny in the last few years.
Well, at least one person seems to think a new Powers movie is a great idea. Boston.com is reporting that Gisele Bundchen is considering signing on as the next Powers girl, carrying on the proud tradition of Elizabeth Hurley as Vanessa Kensington, Heather Graham as Felicity Shagwell, and Beyonce Knowles as Foxxy Cleopatra. Apparently she's been given the script and plans to meet with Mike Myers' agents soon.
Bundchen, of course, is more famous for being a supermodel and dating Tom Brady than for any known acting ability. She doesn't even speak English as a first language, being from Brazil originally, so the usual dilemma of seeing a model act will probably be even worse in this case. Yeah, everything about this shrieks “bad idea,” which goes for the entire movie as well. The teenagers who made Austin Powers a hit 10 years ago have grown up, and today's teenagers don't even know who Mike Myers is. Who on earth actually wants to see this movie? If Love Guru is a flop, maybe we can be spared from an Austin Powers reboot. It seems like our only hope. Get that boycott started!

Oh sorry but Gisele is famous for being Gisele, not for Dating Tom Brady who plays sissy padded modified rugby. Honestly do Americans really think that crap is football? On acting. Do you know how many actresses got their starts as models? The list is endless. Marilyn Monroe, Halle Berry, Kim Basinger, Cameron Diaz etc. what the hell is so special about acting anyway. You're faking it on fake sets. Models fake it for still cameras all the time. It's not real. They have to emote without speaking. That's harder to me. Actresses get to talk ,move around, and have a director guide them throughtout. In addition they can do one scene a thousand times. If you're a bad actress, it just means you can't fake it in front of a moving camera. Big freakin deal. Give me a break
I'm sorry, acting and modeling are NOT the same thing. Granted some people may possess the talent to do both but that does not mean you can take a great model and stick her in front a film camera and expect a gifted or even convincing performance. Conversely I would not expect and beautiful actress to be abe to sit in fron of a camera in be able to model perfectly.
I'll agree that each of them is a "performing" art form but each requires its own set of skills and difficulties, so lets approqach this with a little bit of realism, Gisele may be a super-supermodel, but I would never expect that to equate to her being a great actress. She may do well, but then again she may well suck at it.
