The Great Gatsby Trailer Arrives Online
Many filmmakers have attempted to bring F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby - arguably the greatest book ever written - to the big screen, but thus far nobody has been successful. The most notable attempt came in 1974 when director Jack Clayton tried his hand at it. Despite bringing together a terrific cast that included Robert Redford, Mia Farrow, Bruce Dern and Karen Black,, the movie still couldn't match the power and brilliance of the original story. That, of course, puts a lot of pressure on Baz Luhrmann, whose own adaptation is set to come out at the end of this year. Will it succeed? Well, check out the trailer below and at least you can get an idea of it.
The trailer launched on Apple, where you can see it in HD, but the preview is also available below.
In addition to the trailer Apple has posted the first teaser poster, which you can see right here:
Set in the early 1920s, The Great Gatsby follows Nick Carraway, a young writer who becomes attached to a man of great wealth and means, living the great life in the post-World War I era. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Elizabeth Debicki, and Amitabh Bachchan and will be in theaters this Christmas.
