Hero Blend #16: A First Look Into The Dark, Dirty World Of Gotham

Next week we will see the season finales of both the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the second season of Arrow, but rather than discussing endings, this week we are talking about beginnings. This fall we expect to be seeing the debut of a number of new comic book television shows, and this past Monday we got our first real look at one of the biggest ones: Gotham.

Set long before Bruce Wayne first put on the cape and cowl to become The Dark Knight, the new series instead focuses on a young Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) who arrives in the DC Comics series to start a life for himself. The new trailer has suggested that Gotham’s pilot will feature Gordon tracking down the man responsible for the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne, Bruce’s parents, but the rest of the show promises to introduce some of the most legendary villains and supporting characters from Batman comics, including The Penguin, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman.

The debut Gotham trailer has inspired a lot of conversation, and we’ve bottled some of it up and are ready to serve it as the latest episode of Hero Blend. Joining me as co-host on this week’s show is my good friend Germain Lussier from SlashFilm, who helps me break down both what we got to see in the preview, and what we can expect to see from the series.

Gotham will be airing on Fox this fall, and you can find more episodes of Hero Blend right here.
