Hero Blend #24: What Should Marvel Studios Do With Hulk?

As successful as Marvel Studios has become building their own huge big screen franchise with heroes like Iron Man, Captain America and Thor, the future of the Hulk remains a big question mark. Released in 2008, The Incredible Hulk has, to date, been the biggest box office disappointment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and as a result is the only movie thus far that doesn’t have either an existing sequel or in active production. Mark Ruffalo turned the character back into a fan-favorite with his performance in The Avengers, but there has been no sight of the big green monster since. So what’s the best move going forward?

This week we heard quite a bit of both denial and speculation on the subject of the subject of Hulk. First, Mark Ruffalo spoke out against the rumors of a possible Planet Hulk move, saying,

”I don't think that's the way to go yet. I think you need more Banner. The whole thing is just him as Hulk, on a planet, fighting other gladiators."

This news was followed by an interesting tidbit floated discussing the idea of Hulk somehow ending up in a yet-unannounced Guardians of the Galaxy 2 along with Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and Drax. Will this actually happen? It’s hard to say.

Obviously there are a lot of possibilities that Marvel Studios could explore with their big, green beast, and on this week’s episode of Hero Blend we’re breaking it all down. Joining me as co-host is Silas Lesnick from ComingSoon/Superhero Hype/Most Craved, and to say that he has some interesting ideas about the future of Hulk would be an understatement.
