Hero Blend #47: About That Ant Man Trailer...
Marvel Studios certainly has an interesting year ahead of it in 2015. Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron is unquestionably one of the most anticipated blockbusters of the year and is expected to break all kinds of box office records… and then there’s Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man, a movie that spent much of last year mired in controversy due to the departure of director Edgar Wright. As a result, the solo film has generated a lot of questions regarding just how good it can possibly be, and this week we got our first real inkling with the debut of the first Ant-Man trailer.
Off the bat, what struck most people as surprising about the preview was its rather somber tone, running in contrast to the fact that it’s a movie starring Paul Rudd and based on a script the actor co-wrote with Anchorman director Adam McKay. This choice resulted in some mixed reactions across the internet, but one thing is for certain: the film should deliver in a big way on things we have not yet seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Joining me for the first Hero Blend of the new year is Cinema Blend’s own Sean O’Connell, who has some very interesting thoughts of his own about the Ant-Man trailer. You can watch the brand new episode above, and for a refresher course on the preview you can also click play on the video below.
