Hero Blend #85: The Consequences Of Deadpool (Spoilers Edition!)

Tim Miller’s Deadpool is unlike anything we’ve ever seen from the comic book movie genre, and a result of its success is that it’s very likely going to have a key impact on the future. The movie is now domestically the highest grossing title in the X-Men franchise, and there have been important questions asked about what has been driving its popularity: be it the R-rating, the scale, the humor or the originality.

So what kind of effect will Deadpool have on the movie world? Well, the green light for Deadpool 2 is certainly significant, as is the confirmation that it will co-star one of the most complex characters in the history of Marvel Comics: Cable. But then there’s also the matter of what will change outside of the series, be it the introduction of more R-rated movies to the genre, or possibly lower-budgeted tales that have an opportunity to really dig into the key elements of their protagonists.

Joining me to dissect all of the consequences of Deadpool on this week’s episode of Hero Blend is my good friend Silas Lesnick, from ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype/Most Craved. Enjoy the episode!
