One of the best reasons to spend thousands of dollars to cram yourself into a convention hall with a bunch of nerds for a week is to see stuff like this. The first footage seen anywhere from Jon Favreau’s Iron Man movie debuted at the San Diego Comic Con this weekend. Alright actually it’s probably not worth the money spent and frustration endured by the people who were there to see it because really… they could have seen it sitting at home… the way you’re about to.
That’s right, the four minutes of Iron Man from Con are already up online courtesy of some handy Con attendee with a video recorder. Some of it looks good, some of it looks cheesy. I’m no Iron Man expert, but were his origins always that lame? On the positive side, they really seem to be playing up the rich, playboy angle with him, something none of the other billionaire superhero franchises have really done properly. Oh some of the Batman movies have toyed with the notion, but it’s never been more than an act or a cover with Bruce Wayne. Tony Stark on the other hand, seems to genuinely enjoy lying in bed with two gorgeous supermodels. Batman only pretends to, biding his time till he can get home to Robin.
