It’s been three years since Ray and Jamie Foxx is still running on the movie’s musical fumes. It’s opened up a hold world of music related movie roles for him. Last year he did Dreamgirls and now Variety says he’s doing another musical biopic, this time about a mentally ill musician whom no one has ever heard of.
The DreamWorks backed film is called The Soloist, and it’s based on a series of articles by a Los Angeles Times writer about homeless, schizo musician who dreams of playing at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Presumably between this crazy homeless guy and all the others is that in addition to lunatic fever-dreams he also has musical talent. If not, it’s going to be a long and unfulfilling movie.
Jamie will of course play the crazy, probably urine-soaked, homeless dude. Joe Wright, who helmed the decent enough Keira Knightley re-adaptation of Pride & Prejudice will direct.
