When the news about a Hancock sequel went from internet buzz to legit Variety story, the word become that Jason Bateman had joined Charlize Theron and Will Smith to return for a sequel. Apparently this additional bit of casting was also news to Jason Bateman.
“I don’t know where that writer gets their information from as I haven’t been contacted, nor have my representatives," he told Collider. Of course, that doesn't mean he won't be in the movie, just that no one seems to be trying very hard to get him on board. Based on what we know about the plans for the sequel, with the idea to travel back to the land where Smith and Theron's characters originated, it probably makes sense to leave Bateman out this time. Is it just a reporter's error that put him in the casting after all, or does Peter Berg have some frantic phone calls to make?
