I recently gave in and started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yes I know I’m about a decade too late, but I figure if you’re going to join a cult the best time to join it is probably after all of its members are dead or in federal custody. Buffy fans may not exactly be dead, but most of them have moved on. So by the way has Joss Whedon, who is not planning Serenity 2 but is plotting to join the ranks of such auteurs as Eli Roth and Rob Zombie by making a horror movie.
The news of his new bloodbath comes courtesy of MTV, where they got Whedon to dish on something called Cabin in the Woods. It’s a movie about exactly what its title says it’s about. From their rather vague description, it sounds a little like a horror comedy. Hey I think I’ve seen this movie. Wasn’t it called The Evil Dead? Except I’m sure in Whedon’s version Ash will have boobs. The man does love a babe who can kick ass.
Cabin in the Woods seems to be in preliminary development stages, so it’s hard to say whether it’ll ever actually happen. If it does, odds are it’ll be good. It’s not like Whedon’s a stranger to the horror genre, he’s made his name on vampires, demons, and creepy crawly cheerleaders. After making great science fiction and failing to get people to watch, it makes sense to go back to the well.

I'm excited to see anything he writes where the characters have a chance to develop. Buffy is the only show that really truly delved into character relationships, you could always feel how close the Scoobys were hoe how important each character was to the others.
I hope Dollhouse has a chance to do that and doesnt turn into another "Bionic Woman".
