Jurassic Park 4 Aiming For Summer 2014 Release

Since learning that Universal was putting Rise of the Planet of the Apes' scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to the task of penning the script for the planned Jurassic Park IV, I can't help but wonder if motion capture might not be incorporated in the production of this anticipated sequel. (And if so, is it too soon to start petitioning for Andy Serkis to play the role of a dinosaur?) I may be thinking a bit too far ahead at this point, as the sequel still doesn't have a director. But the latest update on the project suggests that we may see the film in theaters in two years.
Collider spoke with producer Frank Marshall about Jurassic Park IV, and he revealed that they'd like to get it into theaters "within two years" with an aim to release it during the summertime. Marshall also confirmed that this will be a sequel (not a reboot or remake) and made mention of the developments in technology…
“That’s what’s gonna be great about it, technology’s taken a leap now that we can really do some great things”
They did "some great things" when they brought Michael Crichton's novel about a park inhabited by cloned dinosaurs to the big screen back in 1993, nearly two decades ago. The potential to do something great once again is certainly there, and as Marshall notes, technology has taken a leap. Let's just hope for good story-telling and good direction. They have Jaffa and Silver on board to do the script, but we still don't know who will direct. It's definitely going to be interesting to hear who is brought on board to helm the film, and maybe get an idea of what the story for the follow-up will be.
