Jurassic World Mysterious Poster Explained, Get The Update

Update: The Twitter that posted the original tease has since posted an update clarifying that the image is not related to Jurassic World 2...

Jurassic World, the sequel to the popular Steven Spielberg directed Jurassic Park, was an absolutely major success. Despite some mixed reviews, it broke several records at the time of its opening from biggest opening weekend ($208.8 million) to best global box office income ($511.8 million). It wasn’t long until a sequel was announced but since then, there’s been very little information on when we can return to Isla Nublar. When this poster and a "Something Is coming" hashtag started making the rounds on Twitter, fans wondered if it was related to the next movie's title reveal...

This new image comes from a popular Jurassic World Twitter account (@jurassicparkiv) and while it’s an extremely small tease, it promises that something is coming. The theory that this was a tease for the eventual title reveal of the Jurassic World followed up turned out to be wrong, and the Twitter has since clarified that it has something to do with a new website.

An actual title reveal could hint at the plot of the new film. Personally, I thought the sequel would be called Jurassic World: War and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Hoskins’ dream of an all dinosaur military would finally be realized. Then the dinosaurs would finally be let loose from the island to literally chomp their way into the hearts of the people.

There are still no details on the plot of the sequel and the only cast known to be returning are Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. It was recently announced that J.A. Bayona would be taking over directing duties from Colin Trevorrow, who will be too busy directing Star Wars Episode IX to return. Trevorrow will be working on the story however and has said the sequel will not be "just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island." That seems to hint at the dinosaurs somehow leaving the island for the first time since the T-Rex rampaged through San Diego in The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Sequels to Jurassic Park are tough to nail down. Jurassic World is probably the best one and that’s mainly because it had the benefit of a time gap to get some distance from the original. Hopefully, the new sequel will find a way to keep the franchise fresh.

The untitled sequel to Jurassic World is scheduled to hit theaters June 22, 2018.
