Justin Timberlake is set to find out if he’s as funny on the big screen as he is on Saturday Night Live. The Hollywood Reporter says he’s joining the cast of the new Mike Myers laugher The Love Guru.
The film centers around a newly created, wacky Mike Myers character. Mike is an American raised by gurus who moves back to the US and starts dispensing advice. Hockey players will serve as a backdrop for his advice-giving and Timberlake will play a pro hockey player named Jacques Grande.
Mike and JT have worked together before… sort of. No, Myers hasn’t been helping him bring sexy back. Timberlake did a voice in the wholly awful third Shrek movie this summer. He was the annoying kid king.
JT has proven he can be incredibly funny in small doses. His guest hosting stints on SNL have been consistently hilarious. I’m just not sure the guy who sang “Dick in a Box” will be funny stretched over 90 minutes. I guess we’ll find out.
