Critics love to sneer at Madagascar, but I loved the hell out of it. It’s just wild, silly, funny movie and I don’t have a problem with that. It’s entertaining, which is a lot better than you can say for some of the other lower tier computer animated movies we’ve been saddled with. Yes Surf’s Up, I’m looking at you. How the hell did that movie get nominated for an Oscar?
Unlike Surf’s Up, Madagascar actually had an audience, a big enough one to earn it a sequel. The second one is coming soon, and it’s recently been retitled Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. The folks over at DreamWorksFansite have posted a teaser for the movie, which was apparently found on the Bee Movie DVD, a DVD which I will never watch since Bee Movie is one of those aforementioned, sucky computer animated movies.
But, here’s a look at the first footage we’ve seen from Madagascar 2, hosted by the voice of Alex the lion, Ben Stiller:
